Sunday May 11th 2025 at 16
Lauttasaari Church
The Lauttasaari Music Festival celebrates Mother’s Day with the Äidin sydän (Mother’s Heart) concert, featuring some of Finland’s top artists. The most beautiful chamber music of spring will be performed by soprano Emma Kajander, winner of the Lappeenranta Singing Competition, jazz saxophonist Jukka Perko, baritone Esa Ruuttunen, and leading Finnish chamber musicians, cellist Marko Ylönen and clarinetist Tuulia Ylönen.
The diverse program of the concert includes solo songs by Jean Sibelius and Oskar Merikanto, as well as other beloved chamber music pieces, from Armas Järnefelt’s Berceuse to Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Vocalise. The concert culminates in an Aria from Bachianas Brasileiras, composed by Heitor Villa-Lobos for eight cellos and soprano.
