Markus Fagerudd

Composer

Markus Fagerudd is an exceptionally versatile and talented composer and arranger. His wide-ranging output spans opera, film and theatre music, and modern classical music. He is best known for his stage works, which courageously cross borders between arts and genres. Among his popular works are the children’s operas Heinähattu, Vilttitossu ja suuri pamaus, Gaia, and Seitsemän koiraveljestä.

Fagerudd studied composition at the Sibelius Academy with, among others, Olli Kortekangas and Kalevi Aho, and continued his studies under Wolfgang Rihm at the Karlsruhe University of Music. He has worked as an arranger, musical director, and teacher at the University of the Arts Helsinki and KOM-theatre, to name few.
